Mark Hill (of Antiques Roadshow fame) will tell us of the histories and products of Britain’s ‘Big Four’ postwar glass companies - Whitefriars, King’s Lynn (Wedgwood), Caithness and Dartington.
Mark will also relate how modern West German ceramics manufacturers, having firmly established themselves at the forefront of international ceramic design in the 1950s, underwent a second explosion in design during the 1960s, pushing the boundaries of form, glaze and colour to their limits.
All this will be followed by a Mini Antiques Roadshow!

Lecturer: Mark Hill
Having obtained a degree in History of Art & Architecture, Mark began his career as a porter and Junior Cataloguer at Bonhams, before moving to Sotheby's where he was a Specialist in the Collectors' Department. He subsequently became a director of an internet-based auctions company. From 2002-17 he co-authored - with Judith Miller - the Collectables Price Guide.
Mark also founded his own publishing company in 2005 and has published over 15 books on emerging specialist subjects in the decorative arts.
Perhaps best known as a Miscellaneous expert on BBC1's Antiques Roadshow, Mark has also co-presented five primetime TV series on antiques and collecting for BBC2.
